Did You Know The Secret to Making Leftover Paint Last for Years?

Today’s Tuesday Tip:

Properly storing interior and exterior paint ensures it remains usable for future projects. Here are key tips:

1. Seal Tightly: Always close the lid tightly to prevent air from entering, which can cause the paint to dry out.
2. Store Upright: Keep cans upright to prevent leaks and spills.
3. Cool, Dry Place: Store paint in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, heat sources, or freezing temperatures, which can alter the paint’s consistency and effectiveness.
!! 4. Temperature Range: Ideally, keep the environment between 50°F and 80°F (10°C – 27°C).
5. Label Clearly: Label the cans with the date of purchase, color, and paint type for easy identification later.
6. Avoid Freezing: Do not store paint in areas prone to freezing, such as basements or garages, as it can ruin the paint.
7. Use Proper Containers: If you’ve transferred paint to a different container, use an airtight, resealable container designed for liquids.

Following these steps can extend the shelf life of your paint and maintain its quality.
