Did You Know Not All Painter’s Tape Is the Same? Here’s What the Colors Really Mean

It’s our weekly Tuesday Tip and it’s a good one!

Painter’s Tape Color Differences:

Blue Tape: The most common type. Great for everyday painting on walls and ceilings. It’s good for surfaces that aren’t very delicate and can be left on for several days without peeling paint.

Green Tape: A bit stronger and more durable than blue. It sticks better and is often used for more detailed work or when taping for a longer time, especially on tricky surfaces.

Orange Tape: Designed for more heavy-duty use. It sticks firmly and can handle rougher surfaces, but it’s still easy to remove without peeling paint or damaging the surface. Good for outdoor or textured surfaces, like brick.

Yellow Tape: Often used for special purposes, like electronic work or areas that require very clean removal without leaving residue. It can also be used for covering surfaces that might get damaged by other tapes.

In short:

– Use blue for general indoor painting.

– Use green for detailed or longer projects.

– Use orange for tougher surfaces or outdoor projects.

– Use yellow for delicate surfaces or special applications.
