JBG Painting Ethics & Policies
How we operate, what we stand for, and what you can count on.
At JBG Painting, the way we run our business matters as much as the work we put on your walls. Our policies aren’t fine print – they’re the framework that lets you welcome our team into your home or business with confidence. Every standard outlined here exists for one reason: to make sure you receive a painting experience that is honest, professional, and built to last.
Our Mission & Core Values
Mission
To take the pain out of painting for the families and businesses of the Wilmington area – by delivering meticulous craftsmanship, clear communication, and a stress-free experience from the first phone call to the final brushstroke.
Core Values
- Trust. We earn it on every job. We show up when we say we will, we communicate openly about timelines and pricing, and we treat your property as if it were our own.
- Reliability. Our customers tell us the same thing again and again: we follow through. From scheduling to clean-up, you can count on consistent, dependable service.
- Professionalism. Uniformed, trained, W-2 employees. Marked vehicles. Respectful conduct. A worksite that is organized at the end of every day. These aren't extras - they're the baseline.
- High Standards. We don't cut corners on prep, products, or process. The finish is only as good as the work underneath it, and we hold ourselves to a standard worth recommending.
- Community. Wilmington is home. We live here, raise our families here, and invest in the neighborhoods we serve through local events, charitable giving, and discounts for veterans, first responders, nurses, and teachers.
Insurance & Coverage
Hiring a contractor without verified insurance shifts risk onto you, the homeowner. We carry the coverage that protects both our team and your property – and we’re happy to provide documentation any time you ask.
What We Carry
- General Liability Insurance. Comprehensive coverage that protects your property in the unlikely event of an accident on the job.
- Workers' Compensation Insurance. Every employee on your property is covered. If anyone is injured on your job, our insurance - not your homeowner's policy - handles it.
- Certificate of Insurance Available on Request. We're happy to provide a current COI for any project, residential or commercial. Just ask and we'll send it over.
OSHA Standards & Workplace Safety
A safe job site is a non-negotiable. Our crews are trained to follow the safety standards set by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and our practices are reviewed regularly to keep up with evolving regulations and best practices.
Our Safety Commitments
- Trained Crews. Every team member receives ongoing training on ladder and scaffolding safety, fall protection, hazard communication, and the safe handling of paints, solvents, and equipment.
- Personal Protective Equipment. Our painters are equipped with appropriate PPE for the task, including respirators, eye protection, gloves, and harnesses where applicable.
- Lead-Safe Practices. For homes built before 1978, we follow the EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Rule procedures to protect occupants from lead-paint hazards.
- Site Awareness. We secure work areas, contain dust and debris, post warnings where needed, and keep walkways clear so your household or staff can move safely around the project.
- Daily Clean-Up. Tools are stored, materials are organized, and the work area is left tidy at the end of every day.
Employee Standards
Who we put in your home matters. JBG Painting does not staff projects with day-labor or by-the-job subcontractors. Our painters are W-2 employees who have been hired, vetted, and trained by us.
What W-2 Employment Means for You
- Direct Accountability. Our team works under our supervision, follows our quality standards, and represents our company.
- Payroll Taxes Handled. We pay all required federal and state employment taxes, so there's no risk of those liabilities falling on you as the property owner.
- Insurance Compliance. Workers' compensation and liability coverage is maintained on every employee - no gaps, no surprises.
- Background-Checked. We screen candidates before hiring so we can stand behind every person we send to your door.
- Ongoing Training. From application techniques to customer service, our team continues to learn so the quality of the work stays consistent - crew to crew, project to project.
Wages, Benefits & Stability
We invest in our team because consistent, motivated employees produce consistent, high-quality work. Fair wages, a safe environment, and the opportunity to grow within the company are part of the JBG culture - and a big reason our customers see the same trusted faces year after year.
Conduct Expectations
When our team enters your home or workplace, they represent JBG Painting - and we hold them to a standard that reflects the trust you've placed in us.
- Arrive on time and in clean, identifiable JBG Painting attire.
- Drive marked, professional vehicles.
- Greet you respectfully and review the day's plan before starting.
- Refrain from smoking, vaping, profanity, or loud music on your property.
- Use only the designated entrances, work areas, and restrooms agreed upon at the start of the job.
- Protect floors, furniture, fixtures, and landscaping with proper coverings before any work begins.
- Communicate clearly and promptly about any change in scope, schedule, or unexpected condition.
- Leave your space clean - vacuumed, wiped, and ready to enjoy - at the end of every workday.
Zero-Tolerance Policy
JBG Painting maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy for theft, dishonesty, on-the-job substance use, harassment, or discrimination of any kind. Any violation results in immediate disciplinary action up to and including termination, and where appropriate, restitution to the affected customer.
